Our Wisdom Teeth Removal Process
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last set of teeth to develop, usually between the ages of 17 and 25. They often need to be removed because they can become impacted, grow at odd angles, or cause overcrowding. Removing them early can prevent future issues like pain, infection, or damage to neighboring teeth.
Not everyone needs their wisdom teeth removed. However, if you’re experiencing pain, swelling, or difficulty opening your mouth, or if your dentist notices issues during a routine checkup, they may recommend removal. We also suggest early removal as a preventative measure to avoid future complications.
We offer a range of sedation options to ensure your comfort: IV Sedation (Twilight Sedation): You’ll feel relaxed and drowsy but remain awake during the procedure. General Anesthesia: You will be fully asleep during the procedure and will not remember it.
The length of the procedure varies depending on the complexity of your case. For most patients, the procedure takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour. Simple extractions may be quicker, while more complex cases (like impacted teeth) may take longer.
After the procedure, you may experience some swelling, discomfort, and mild bleeding for a few days. We’ll provide you with detailed aftercare instructions, including guidelines on diet, pain management, and when to follow up. Most patients recover within a few days to a week.
Most patients recover within 3 to 7 days. Swelling and discomfort usually peak in the first 2-3 days and begin to subside after that. Full healing may take several weeks, but most people can return to normal activities within a few days.
