On-Site MD Anesthesiologist
Unlike many dental offices, we work with a licensed MD anesthesiologist for general anesthesia—ensuring the highest level of medical oversight for your safety and peace of mind.
Certified Anesthesia Support Team
All surgical staff are certified in BLS, ACLS, and are Certified Anesthesia Assistants through the Oregon Board of Dentistry—so you’re in skilled hands every step of the way.
What to Expect
IV sedation, also known as "twilight sleep," is a method of sedation that keeps you deeply relaxed and calm during your procedure. You may remain semi-conscious, but you won’t feel any pain or anxiety. Most patients remember very little of the procedure afterward.
General anesthesia is a deeper form of sedation that puts you completely to sleep during your procedure. It’s administered by a licensed MD anesthesiologist, and you’ll be carefully monitored throughout the surgery to ensure your safety. You won’t have any awareness or memory of the surgery itself.
During your consultation, Drs. Jay and Michael Malmquist will assess your medical history, anxiety level, and the complexity of your surgery. Based on this, we’ll recommend the most suitable sedation option to make your experience as comfortable and safe as possible.
Yes. We follow strict safety protocols and have an experienced, certified team to administer and monitor sedation throughout your procedure. Our staff is highly trained in advanced anesthesia techniques, and your safety is our top priority.
The effects of anesthesia vary depending on the type used. IV sedation typically wears off within a few hours, but you may feel groggy for the remainder of the day. With general anesthesia, it may take a few hours to fully wake up, and you’ll need to be monitored for a longer recovery period.
We understand that many patients feel anxious about anesthesia. Our team is trained to provide gentle, compassionate care, and we offer options like inhalation sedation (nitrous oxide) for patients with needle phobia. Our goal is to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
